Very High Frequency Omnidirectional Radio Range (VOR) Loop Antenna
Part Number: D-50404
The VOR loop antenna serves as part of the FRN44A VOR station, generating bearing information for aircraft guidance. The antenna is an Alford Loop, mounted above a shelter on a counterpoise and inside a radome. The VOR antenna works at a frequency range of 108 to 118 MHz.
The Alford Loop antenna is an omnidirectional, horizontally-polarized transmission loop that receives one of the four RF signals from the bridge of a full VOR Navigational Set (AN/FRN44A).The full VOR Navigational Set consists of an RF transmission line coupler (bridge assembly) mounted inside the shelter, a group of four Alford Loop antennas, and a circular array of four tunable rods spaced at 90° intervals called the vertical polarizer. The Alford Loop is designed to match performance and environmental specifications of the VOR Navigational Set (NSN: 5825-01-628-2338).
dB Systems sells only the loop antenna from the VOR Navigational Set. dB Systems Inc. offers antenna repair and refurbishment at our facility. Contact us for a quotation.
